ContractRate (contractrate.com.au) is a free calculator for comparing permanent wages against a contract day rate or hourly rate. This page explains what data is collected when you use it.
Every number you enter (salary, day rate, leave settings, super rates and so on) is calculated entirely in your browser using JavaScript. None of it is sent to, or stored on, our servers.
If you use "Copy share link", your inputs are encoded into the page's URL itself (after the #) so the link reproduces your scenario when opened. That encoding happens locally in your browser; the link only goes wherever you choose to send it.
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how many people use the site and roughly how they use it: pages viewed, approximate location (city/country level), device and browser type, and referring site. This is aggregate usage data, not your calculator inputs.
Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish visitors and sessions. You can opt out using a browser extension such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on, or by blocking cookies/scripts in your browser's privacy settings.
We plan to show ads on this site via Google AdSense. Once active, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can review or opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com, and read more about how Google uses data from partner sites at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
We don't sell or share your data with anyone. The only third parties involved are Google (Analytics and, in future, AdSense), who process data under their own privacy terms linked above.
This site isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this page as the site changes (for example, once advertising goes live). The "last updated" date at the top will reflect the latest revision.
